About

49

I am a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with 10+ years of experience, have a certification in perinatal mental health, and am licensed as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) in Washington.  I am certified to treat patients across the lifespan, and formerly focused my practice on children, adolescents, and young adults.

Since having my second child, I am now primarily taking new patients who are in the perinatal period- those wanting to start a family or trying to conceive, currently pregnant or expecting, or postpartum or with a recent family addition through adoption.  I also work with young adults who are dealing with depression, trauma, anxiety, and life transition/adjustment.  I also enjoy helping patients learn to manage stress and develop coping skills.  I am only seeing patients virtually via telehealth at this time, and patients are required to be located in Washington for each appointment.

PRACTICE APPROACH

I provide psychiatric assessments (to diagnose and guide treatment), medication management, psychoeducation for patients and families, and supportive counseling.  Across these services, it is important to me to assess each person’s health holistically, by including nutrition, exercise, and/or sleep routines, and using these and other non-pharmacological interventions such as therapy in treatment, not focusing solely on medication.  I also think it is essential to get to know my patients and learn about their lives, rather than asking exclusively about symptoms, as I feel the therapeutic relationship is a key factor in improving wellness.  Please note that as I only provide services via telehealth, I do not prescribe controlled substances for new patients due to laws around these medications requiring in-person visits.

ABOUT ME

In addition to this practice, I have taught for the University of Washington School of Nursing and Gonzaga University School of Health Sciences as a clinical instructor, course coordinator, lecturer, and adjunct clinical faculty since 2017.  Previous to this, I have gained experience in various settings including community mental health clinics, psychiatric hospitals, a pediatric medical hospital, specially designed programs, and rural outpatient behavioral health clinics.  Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, traveling, and being active outdoors or in a fitness class.
